Chasing Rainbows

Sometimes we look too far,
Leaving all our doors so ajar,
Searching for that one fling,
Beyond rainbows and everything,

We look for surreal moments,
Crazy, cool and strange events,
Thus ignoring what’s right in front,
Ready to bear every single brunt,

As do rock stars in a band,
We reach out to no hand,
He had the world there for him,
Yet loneliness filled to the brim,

The pain of having then lost,
What was always loved most,
That we took for granted,
Not around when most wanted,

Wondering if we couldn’t,
Regretting how we wouldn’t,
Choosing to burn as crude,
Than to fade and brood…

remember... the grass is green here too!
